Depression can be caused by personal events such as a death in the family, a major life event, drug or alcohol use or a history of mental illness in the family.

​>   Twenty-five percent of women suffer from depression serious enough to seek treatment at least once in their lifetime.

​>   In fact, nearly twice as many women as men suffer from depression every year.

What You Might Feel

 

You might feel irritable, sad and stressed most of the time. Or you might get more angry than usual and feel restless, unable to relax or stop thinking about what is on your mind.

 

Other feelings that you might experience include feeling guilty, worthless, frustrated, unhappy, indecisive, disappointed and miserable.

TALK ABOUT IT

A major life event can include anything from long term unemployment, living in an uncaring or abusive relationship. Long term loneliness and isolation can also have affect on a person's brain.

If you ever feel down or upset for long periods of time (a few days to weeks) don't be afraid to talk to someone about.
